What is a CTF?

The Child Trust Fund (CTF) is a unique type of savings plan that allows you, your family and friends to save towards your child's future.

  • Your child is eligible for the CTF as long as they receive Child Benefit, is resident in the UK and was born on or after September 1st 2002.
  • You don't need to apply for it - the Government will automatically send you a CTF voucher worth £250.
  • The CTF doesn't affect your family's entitlement to any other benefits or tax credits.
  • You must use this voucher to set up a special CTF account, such as the one we provide.
  • There are a variety of accounts available including cash deposit accounts and those that invest in shares.
  • Family and friends can make contributions to the account up to a combined total of £1,200 a year, in addition to any Government payments.
  • Returns are free of income tax and capital gains tax – although tax legislation may change in the future.
  • The money will remain in the CTF account until your child is 18, at which point only they will be able to access it, giving them a little extra to fund their future plans.

This CTF is provided by Family Investments. Neither Family Investments or Skipton Building Society is able to give you financial advice on the suitability of this product. If you have any doubts you should seek independent financial advice.

A Key Features document for this CTF account, which includes the Simplified Prospectus details, will be sent to each applicant. This document, and a Full Prospectus, are also available on request by writing to Family Investments Customer Service Team at their registered office address below.
